Trim is the first place a rushed job shows: an open miter at a corner, a gap under the baseboard, a door casing that does not line up with the next one. Walls are rarely flat or square, so every piece gets measured where it will go, not off a drawing. Inside corners on baseboard get coped instead of mitered, which keeps them tight as the wood moves. Long runs are joined with angled scarf joints that disappear under paint instead of square butt joints that crack open.
Wood moves with the seasons. Humid summers swell trim, and dry heated air in winter shrinks it back. That is why builder trim, often finger-jointed pine or MDF, opens up at the joints after a few years. We glue the joints that can be glued, nail into framing instead of only drywall, fill every nail hole, and caulk only the gaps that should be caulked, like where trim meets the wall. Then it gets primed and painted to match the rest of the room.
Outside, trim takes the weather head on. Window sills, door brickmold, fascia and corner boards are where paint fails first and water sits longest, and rot follows. We cut back to solid wood, replace the soft section with new primed or rot-resistant material, and seal the joints so water runs off instead of in. Inside, we also build shelving, closet upgrades, garage wall panels and other custom pieces, made to fit the space you actually have.

Mostly seasonal movement. Wood swells in humid summers and shrinks in dry winters, and mitered corners that were only nailed tend to open. Coped inside corners and glued outside miters hold up much better. We can re-cut and re-fasten the worst ones instead of just filling the gap with caulk.
Usually, yes. Most baseboard and casing profiles are still made, and a short offcut is enough to find the match. For older or unusual profiles we find the closest stock piece or build the profile up from two pieces. Once it is painted, a close match blends right in.
Often, yes. If the rot is limited to one end, like the bottom of a corner board or the end of a sill, we cut back to solid wood and splice in a new piece. If the whole board is soft, replacing it is the better fix. Either way, the joints get sealed and painted.
Just about anything on the honey-do list. Repairs, drywall, trim carpentry, mounting, doors, fixtures, and outdoor assembly like basketball hoops. If you're not sure, just ask.
